1099 Forms E-Filing

 
This will take you step by step to E-File the 1099-Form.
 
You need to have an account with the IRS Fire at:
 
 
In the Steps below we assume you have created an account and are ready to proceed.
 
Step 1. Browse to the IRS Fire Online site at https://fire.irs.gov/
 
Step 1A. Click or Tap the "Log On" button (1) as shown below.
 
 
Step 2. Your browser will redirect to the IRS Fire Login page:
 
Step 2A. Enter your login and password.
 
Step 2B. Press the Login button to login to the IRS FIRE site.
 
 
Step 3. You will see the IRS Important bulletins. Click or Tap the "Continue" hyperlink as seen in (3)
 
 
Step 4. Click or Tap the the "Send Information Returns" menu as seen in (4).
 
 
Step 5. Enter your TCC and TIN/EIN number.
 
The TCC number is a 5 character ID which is sent by the IRS.
 
The TIN/EIN number is the number TIN/EIN of the company you are filing for, or filing on their behalf.
 
TIP: If you received a TIN/EIN, If you are filing W2s, please visit the SSA website. Using W2-1099, you can file your W2 in less than 5 minutes.
 
 
Step 6.
 
Enter your company details. After finishing, press the "Accept" button in (6).
 
 
Step 7. Click or Tap on the "Test File" hyperlink. This ensures that you have a correct file prior to e-File.
 
If you have received an email (see step 17) your 1099 eFile is good, please continue select
"Original File" hyperlink.
 
 
Step 8. Enter your PIN number. This number is given by the IRS in a sealed envelope. Click or Tap the "Submit"  button to continue.
 
 
Step 9. Click on the "Browse..." button.
 
 
Step 10. From W2-1099’s 1099 E-File export, save your 1099's as 1099 E-File.
 
i.     Select a filename using the […] button.
 
ii      Click on the “2. Export to 1099 eFile format”.
 
iii.     An e-file dialog-box will popup that “The file has been saved to your hard drive”
 
Step 10B. Click “Copy filename to Clipboard”.
 
 
Step 11. Paste the filename to the browser dialog box.
 
 
Step 12. Wait for the file to upload and click the "Upload" button.
 
 
Step 13. After upload, the website will show that the 1099 file is uploaded.
 
Click on "File Another?" to file another tax return.
 
Click on "Main Menu" to go to the next site.
 
 
Step 14. To check your e-File, click on the "Check File Status".
 
 
<hr> Step 15. Enter the file-status.
 
Step 15A. Enter your TCC number.
 
Step 15B. Enter your TIN/EIN number.
 
Step 15C. Enter your date range and click Search.
 
 
Step 16. Optionally, you may enter the "FIRE Filename-Optional" that was uploaded. In this example, it is the same filename as in Step 13.
 
 
Step 17. After some time, you will receive a conformation email from the IRS. If you receive "Good Federal Reporting" you can then proceed to file your taxes.
