    Default State Tax changed

While doing this week's payroll, I noticed that the amount being withheld for our WI state tax had changed-dramatically. In one instance the amount doubled. Prior to doing any transactions, there was an update of both the program and the tax tables. I'd just like to verify that the tax increase is correct. Thanks.

The Wisconsin tax formula was so complex it didn't fit our normal fill in the blanks tax tables we use. We had to have it hard coded into PayWindow by our programmers. I just asked them to recheck the coding.

Paul, I think there's still a problem. I've double checked that all our employees are keyed as Wisconsin. This week checks with the gross amount of $76 and $114 each had almost $20 in state tax withheld. These are hourly employees. Then a salaried employee with a $403.85 gross amount had only $9.13 in state tax withheld. All three are claiming zero dependents in all categories. That's a major chunk of the hourly employees pay check being withheld. I'm willing to send you copies of the transactions if they're not available for others to see.

If you take the Wisconsin Tax book and test with the three examples they have, they all come out to match the three tests. Try that yourself. What version number of PayWindow do you have? You can privately email me at sales@zpay.com

Paul, there must be a bug in my system, then, because the state tax that's being withheld from several of our hourly employees is way too much. I've tried looking thru tutorials, but didn't find one that fits this problem. I've tried to input the correct figures from a state tax table, but the program won't save the edit. It just reverts to the original amount. I've tried emailing you last week as you suggested, but still haven't received a reply. I need a solution soon, payday is coming up fast! Please help!

Sorry for the delay, I was out of commission for back surgery and am just getting back to normal.

Make sure to download and install the current version as it comes out to the penny for Wisconsin 's 2022 tax formula.
