I am working on a time clock program and was wondering what was necessary in the text file to make the import work correctly? I Tried a simple copy paste of the Qquest data file that was included in the help file under the Quest Timeclock section. The data appeared to be recognized by Paywindow but did not appear to actually import.
Could also be that I was doing something wrong when it came to the import although it seems like such a simple process I would think that I had done it right.
Anyway, your response will help me be able to configure and finish this time clock program such that it will work with this great payroll program.
Thanks
George

The Employee ID in the export file must match existing employee Codes in PayWindow.
Look at the Qqest instructions in the PayWindow help file.

Hi,
I am trying to import timeclock info into Paywindow. Everything looks good. The file from timeclock matches exactly like the help file says it should look like. I click next, and the response is that imported. It returns a list of employees that have imported successfully. I click next, the windo disapears, but there are no transactions to match the import. I followed the help file file exactly. It returns a success message, but there are no transactions.
What Gives?
p.s. The employee ID in the export file does match the employee codes in Paywindow. Paywindow acknowledges the match in the import preview, and it returns a response of a successful import. There are just no new transactions from the import.
If there is something more to do, please tell me, and include it in the help files as well
Thank You,

The import does not create transactions, it pre-loads the time into the employee records.
So now when you go through to pay the employees, you just open them for paying and click the pay button to calculate the pay, the hours will already be there and calculate their pay.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for that quick reply.
However, it is still not working for me. The response from the import says it is a success, you know how it lists the names of the employees that imported, but when I go into pay employees, the fields are still at zero.
Also, just in case, I did verify that in the preview before the import that there were values in the fields.
I have been through the entire help to see if I could see anything that I was doing wrong, and I viewed the tutorial video on payroll entry just to make sure I was doing it right.
Thanks,
Lee

Send me a backup of your database as an attachment to an email along with the time clock export file that you have so I can see if I can spot the problem.
See this FAQ for instructions on how to send me the backup:

Hi Paul,
There is a lot of private information in that backup file. email is not a safe way to send such things. Do you have an ftp site? Also I need to clear it with my boss. It may be a couple days.
Thanks

No we do not have a way for you to ftp to us. I've probably examined several hundred databases over the year and never had a problem yet using email.
It's the only way I can see what you have to find the base of your problem.
