We have all part-time employees how are paid $8.00 - $11.00 an hour and work approximately 35-50 hours
bi-weekly. When payroll is processed there is no federal taxes taken out of most. For example, employee claims M and 0 dependents, paid at $10.71 an hour and worked 56 hours for the 2 weeks. No Federal Taxes were taken out.

I have tried to read up about how the taxes are calculated but am really confused now. I have relied on that this program did it correctly but the last tax update wiped out all my local tax withholdings and I didn't catch it until the next payroll. So now some employees are questioning all their taxes.
Thank you for the help.

Please see the March 13th Tax Update information and instructions at this link:

Please view the pages linked in the help file on that page too.

Make sure you have your employees are setup using the 2021 W4 Form from them as explained at one of the links to the help file.

I think that helps explain the Federal Tax problem but this is the 2nd or 3rd time an update has wiped out my Local Tax deduction on the Payroll and that is a real pain if I haven't caught it before going out.

Thank you.

Thank you.

There are two ways of losing a local tax record that you created. One is moving to a new computer and the other is in selecting a different installation location. The fix is to copy it from the original location to the new location or create a new one and attach it to the employees needing it.
