View Full Version : Wrong state printed on w-2's
My business is in Kansas, but two of my employees live in Missouri. Since all of our business is conducted in Kansas, I have attached Kansas tax tables to all of my employees, but the w-2's for these two employees show MO in the state tax box. Since they work in Kansas, isn't this incorrect? How do I correct this?

You must have the current release of PayWindow installed and in the Company settings select Multi State processing checkbox and in KS, enter your State tax ID for Kansas.
Thanks for your response. I selected the multi state processing checkbox in the company settings, but I'm unclear on where I enter my state tax ID. It's already entered on the first tab of my company settings, but not showing on the w-2's. Is there another location I need to enter it?

Yes, see this page in the help file for Multi-State instructions:
https://zpay.com/pw-online-help/MultiStateSettings.htm?ms=AAAA&q=bXVsdGk%3D&st=Mg%3D%3D&sct=MA%3D%3D&mw=MjQw
Thank you for your continued help. I think I have followed all of the instructions. Everything is set to Kansas tax tables and now has my Kansas tax ID number attached. But I must be missing something. The two employees with MO addresses still show MO on their W-2's in the state box, followed by my Kansas tax ID in the following box. The only place that I have entered "MO" is in their employee tab to record their address. If I change their address to a dummy Kansas address, the problem fixes itself.

I'm assuming that you do have the current release of PayWindow installed? 17.0.11 as one recent release had a problem. And the State That you want reported for the employees tax table is attached to each of their Employee Records? If it's still not working properly, send an email to support@zpay.com and attach a backup of the company file that you are working with and reference this message thread.
