View Full Version : Quick tax table question

My network setup has the program installed normally on C:, while all payroll data resides on E:. A network computer has a share mapped to E:, so the program runs from C: on any computer, but looks to the shared E: for all data.

My issue is tax tables. I've been manually reentering local tax rates on each computer, as those files are stored in \users\name\documents\paywindow tax files\ on each pc separately..
My question is, can I create a \users\name\documents\paywindow tax files\ folder manually on E:, and then point each pc there for the tax tables. Understanding of course, that whenever any tax table other than local is updated in the program, I would have to copy the new tables from C: to E:, excluding the ppltax09.* files that hold the local info.

I'm just trying to avoid this mistake: For whatever reason I sit down at a different pc to do payroll one week, and forget to double check that I remembered to manually enter the local tax tables, and send out incorrect payroll because I was in a rush during tax season. Is it safe for me to point all the pc's to the same tax file folder on the E: drive of the main data machine?

Thanks, and hope you had a Merry Christmas.
