Hi Paul,
I'm having trouble with viewing the Transaction window. Consequently, I can't do much with PayWindow until I get it fixed. My tale follows.
I updated PayWindow a couple of days ago and have not been able to effectively view transactions ever since then.
Everything on the Quick Launch area still works except when I try to launch Transaction. I get the same behavior when I try launching Transaction... from the menu or with Cntl-T. When the problem occurs, CPU for paywin.exe*32 jumps to 12% and seems to stay there for a really long time. (About 20 minutes so far and no change in behavior or the screen.) I can get the CPU back to normal by closing windows in PayWindow and waiting for a few seconds. The problem appears to recur identically if I try to look at the transactions again. The problem only seems to be associated with the transactions window. All the other features seem to work fine.
Interestingly, I can run reports on transactions that I entered before the trouble began; but, I cannot view the same transactions from the Transactions window. I have not been able to get far enough to make additional transactions subsequent to the start of this trouble.
I uninstalled PayWindow, downloaded a new copy from the ZPay site, and reinstalled it. I did not need to provide any information to activate or point to my data (it seemed to know all -- nice). However, there was no improvement to performance (exactly the same behavior as before the uninstall and fresh install).
I backed up my current PayWindow data and restored data from a month ago that did not have problems then. The recently reinstalled version of PayWindow behaves the same with that old data as with the most recent data. So, I believe the problem is with the new version on my machine. I don't think there are problems with the data.
I have 16 GB of memory, a boatload of hard drive space and I'm not aware of any other problems with my system. I tried msconfig, eliminating all of the non-Microsoft services and everything on the Startup tab. I've rebooted several times (including in Safe Mode). Nothing seems to help. I tried PayWindow on another machine (with different data) and it does seems to work there. So, I suspect that there is some sort of incompatibility with my machine and the current version of PayWindow.
Can you point me in a constructive direction? I'm comfortable with the Windows Registry if it comes to that.
Thanks for the help.
Bruce
