Allowance or Dependent

If this is a dumb question I apologize but if I have a single person with no children who wants less with holding do I just add another dependent? I always thought the words allowance and dependent were not interchangeable. Is there another way I am missing? Thanks

Yes add additional Dependents/Allowance in the employee settings but make sure the person has the same number on their W4 Form they give you. That way you are covered if they claim later that you did not withhold enough taxes
