View Full Version : 2nd location site license?

Been looking around for a FAQ about licensing, but don't see one. If I've overlooked it, could you please link it for me? If there isn't one, my question is:

Do I need to buy another license for a 2nd office location for the same business. If it matters, I would be accessing both new and existing client records from the 2nd office. Also, do you know if there will be any reason that the software won't work across a VPN? Basically, I map the networked tax drive (E: in this case) as E: on the remote computer. Then I point my tax software to that drive as it's data drive. Seems like it should work the same way with PayWindow? I guess my only concern is that sometimes the VPN can get a little sluggish... could that cause any timeout or file corruption issues in PayWindow? I don't envision a time when two users would ever be in the same client at once. Also, do I understand the password function correctly in that it password locks the whole program, and there's no way to password lock a specific client?

Thanks.

PayWindow can be used on a network in a single physical location by employees processing payroll. To have a copy in a different building would require a separate license.

I've never used a VPN for data so really do not know what the problem might be other than a security issue maybe where the computer using it does not have the read / write privileges.

Ok, I'll submit an order for a new (non-renewal) license. I guess it's safe to assume the system won't have a fit with me ordering a new license under a name that already has a license?

I don't have a VPN issue, as I haven't tried to run the program that way yet... was just asking in case you knew of any issues before i got started.

Thanks again.

No there would not be any problem with purchasing a second copy.
