Hi Paul,

I need some help. We had an employee who worked from Jan 1, 2014 to about May 2014. Some how his employee file got deleted instead of being made unemployed. When I did the W-2's his was not included nor was his payroll figures in the yearly report that I did. He contacted us regarding his W-2 and that is when we found the error. His weekly transactions are listed but an employee file cannot be found. I do 2 back ups every week so I do have those to fall back on but I need to restore his employee file and keep it to redo the W-3 and possibly the W-2's. Please tell me what I need to do.

Thank you.

If you ran the End of Year tool that would delete all employees marked as Unemployed along with their payroll transactions. Do you remember doing that? If you did, you can make sure you have the current payroll backed up and then restore the last backup of the year you made before you ran the end of year tool and print the W2 Forms and W2.

Thanks Paul, that solved the problem. Valuable lesson learned is not to use year end tool until after W-2's are done. I thought I was only getting rid of employees from 2012 and leaving everything else intact. Apparently I ran year end tool first.
