Restoring?

I have a small company and wanted to use the end of the year tool just to clean things up but before I did I wanted to check the process.

I backed up and then renamed the file.
I entered a dummy transaction.
Restored to the backup.
The dummy transaction is still there.

Shouldn't the dummy transaction be gone if the restoration worked?
