For salaried employees, I had thought if we added 8 hours of vacation on Tab 1 it would automatically deduct the 8 hours from the accrued vacation but not pay the employee additional for the vacation time. But it seems to be adding $$$ in the vacation category.

How do we get the vacation time deducted without adding to the total amount paid.

No, the purpose of vacation accruals tracking is to then pay the employees for the vacation time they take. So when you enter the hours of vacation time when paying, it pays them for their vacation time and deducts the hours from the accruals.

That is the payroll industry standard method of how it works.
