I just tried to run the 941 for the first quarter. Many of the numbers are not correct. I also ran the wage report for the quarter. The taxes are wrong as well as the income in the medicare wage line. The additional medicare taxes come out correctly though. I am not sure why the numbers to not match. i have no employees exempt from FICA or Medicare. i have one employee exempt for Federal and State taxes. At this point I am not sure if I am short or overpaid for the quarter. I am required to make my tax payments the day after the payroll. Has anyone else had problems with the 941 for the 2013 year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did run one earlier for another client and that one was fine. I need to resolve this as quickly as possible. Thank you for any help with this matter.

No reports from others yet, nor any problems in the payrolls we do here for local businesses either.

See this FAQ for things to check:

My first guess would be that you did not install the 2013 tax tables that were released on January 1st from the items listed in that FAQ.

Why on my quarter liability report does the employee FICA and the employer FICA numbers are off by over 100.00. The rate is 6.2% for each rate. I did install the new tax tables in January. I did not do any payroll for 2012 in 2013. I did go and print a report bit that is all. All my other reports are correct. I have used your program for a very long time and have never had this problem. I will check my transactions but with 150 every 2 weeks that is a lot to go through. If I would have made an error in the pay would it not have presented itself in the employees payroll check?

I have checked all the employees that might have an issue. I had one that i had reversed a 401 as she changed her mind. i went back and deleted the 2 transaction and repaid the employee without the deduction and the reversal. I am still way off. I checked her FICA and FIT with holding and they are both correct. I checked all the things in the link and they are all correct. I do not know where else to look.
Here are my differences
Line 2 is short by 6101.85 I have no employee with that total for the year
Line 3 is short by 504.25
line 5a is short by 130.14
line 5c is also short by 6101.85
Line 7 i have -508.55
line 13 is short by 1059.52
In the 941 liability report the employer FICA amount is that 130.14 more than the employee amount even though both rates are at 6.2%

I am at this point lost in where to look or how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Send us your database and I can take a look at it to see if I can spot what is wrong since we've not had any reports of problems other than yours so far this year. See the instructions at this link and reference this message thread:

I received the database and it took me about five hours to find that you had an employee marked for four out of five payrolls as an Agricultural Worker which is not included in the 941 Form but in the 943 Form. After fixing the flags in the transactions table, it was still off and I finally noticed that you had edited 25 payroll transactions after paying and not properly recalculating the FICA and Medicare taxes before saving the edited records. I sent you a backup of the database with the Agricultural Worker flags removed and a spreadsheet of the transactions for you to find, check and fix by deleting and setting the date and paying each properly.
