I have had no problem exporting & uploading our direct deposit file to the bank for payroll until last week. I called the bank to see if they could help and after researching my file they found that the file is not in compliance with what the Federal Reserve requires. They said that they were required to make updates last week and they have on their end but is not matching my file.
We had to manually put a space between the routing number and our businesses tax id. Then the space between the tax id and the file date had to be closed so that there was no space there. The bank double checked to see if this was an issue with other businesses and so far it is just our file.
I went into our storage for direct deposit to edit the information by putting a space before the tax id but when I exported the file, I had to manually put the space in between the numbers on the file being exported again.
Is there a way that I can fix this without having to save my file to notepad and editing it every week or do you have an upgrade coming soon to meet the Federal Reserves requirements?
Your help is appreciated.

We use the standard file format for a NACHA file that you see at this link:

http://zpay.com/downloads/BoA-NACHA-File-Layout-User-Guide.pdf

You are the only one to report that your bank changed their format which makes us very hesitant to change anything which may break the submissions for thousands of our customers.

Give that file to your bank and ask them if they are following that layout.

We had another user that had a problem with her NACHA file and to fix it this is what she did:

“When I tried to upload my export file, I got an error that the file was not correct between column 14 and 23 which has always been my bank assigned ID. The bank had me change it to their routing number and the file went through just fine. They told me NACHA changes went into effect 3/15/13.”

She said it was Item number 3 in the screenshot on this page of the help file:

See if that fixes the problem as in checking the https://www.nacha.org/rcntAmndmts website, there was no file format changes, just information entered.

Please let me know if it fixes it for you like it did for her.
