Paul - Somehow I have managed to screw up the ezpay back-up again. I have 2012 transactions in my current file along with the first payroll of 2013 but not the February payroll which definitely got done because I was able to import it into Trams Back Office. How do I fix this mess? Thanks, Valerie

Did you possible "Restore" you first payroll Backup file? Thats what is sounds like.

Or are you actually selecting a file to open when you start PayWindow and are selecting old backups instead? Unless you are an accountant with more than one company database, you should only click the Button that says "Next" as PayWindow knows what file you used last and will automatically open your company file.

It may be easier for you to set the date for the February Payroll and do it over again that try to figure out what you are doing there. Make sure that your company file is in the location that looks something like this:

C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Documents\PayWindow Data Files\YOUR COMPANY NAME HERE.dxi

So I found a back-up copy with both the January and February transactions but it still has 2012 transactions in it as well. Is that okay?

January & February back-up location: C:\Users\Edge-1\Documents\PayWindow Data Files\Edge Enterprises01-29-13.zip (modified 2/22/13)

Yes that is OK, it actually makes it easy if you ever need to pull up a history report for a fiscal year for an insurance company having the last year and current year.

Why is my data storing in a temp file in my local file folder instead of in my documents where I believe it should be?
We regularly delete our temp files which means I would be deleting my data files?

This is where it is automatically storing:
C:\Users\Edge-1\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp1_Edge Enterprises03-12-13.zip

Actually the user selects the location for the backups when backing up. Carefully watch this video with step by step instructions on how to backup. Listen carefully as you go through the instructions:

And NEVER backup to your local computer drive as the purpose of a backup is to be able to remove it from the computer. All it takes is a lightning strike, a voltage spike, and all the data on the hard drive is gone. With the backup on a removable drive not attached to the computer, it will be safe.
