auto vac & sick deduct

Is there any way you can auto deduct vac and sick hours? I manually enter accrual and deductions because the current functionality does not work for our case. But I find logical that if I entered a number of hours for vacation and/or sick at the time of data entry for a payperiod, that these hours be automatically deducted as if they were entered in the employee took vacation or sick leave for that payp period.

You can manually override out automated system. See this FAQ on how to do this:

The example shows how to do this for Vacation hours but can be done for sick hours as well.
