I am trying to do my first payroll by direct deposit. I am having trouble sending the report to the bank in NACHA format. How do I get the report into NACHA format?

See this page in the help file for instructions. After setting up and performing a test payroll (at least one cent) export the file like you see at the bottom of the page and then give the result file to the bank.

Ok, I got the file for my direct deposit into ".ach" format. I can't export the file to the bank in ".ach" format. How do I get it into ".txt" format? I don't see any option other than the ".ach" format.

That's rich, an ACH file is a text file with an ACH file extension to let the banking world know what it is. If they can't accept it with the ACH file extension (first I've heard of that since we started creating ACH files years ago) simply rename the .ach to be .txt for them.
