View Full Version : Cannot print from Pay Windows

I am able to print from all programs (Quick books, Open Office and a test page) on my computer except Pay Windows. So my printer does have a driver.
The message from Pay Windows says:
"Please be informed that Pay Windows cannot print (to PDF, to Adobe, to Screen). You do not have a printer driver installed. "
It also says "no printer drivers installed."
Could you please give me some direction--thank you Marge

When you open your Printers (Click the Start button, and select "Devices and Printers", what printer is set as your "Default Printer"?

My printer is a Brother MFC 7440N and I used it Friday the 18th on Pay Windows - no problems.

If it worked on Friday, then it should work today. Try something simple, reboot the computer and try it again. It may be something as simple as the print spooler shut down because of some unknown reason thus sending the signal that the printer is missing.

I am sorry I didn't tell you before---I had rebooted w/no success. Since my last message I stopped the spooler and started it again with no success. So I stopped the spooler and rebooted still the same. As we stand, quick books prints, open office prints, MS photo gallery prints, another software just printed. My printer drivers are obviously working with the right printer online. I am at a loss as to why PayWindows won't print.

Do you have more than one printer on the computer? What happens if you select a different printer when the Print Dialog pops up before printing?
Did you install any printer related software since the last pay day when all was working fine?

It also just dawned on me that you said the message was: "Please be informed that Pay Windows cannot print (to PDF, to Adobe, to Screen). You do not have a printer driver installed."
Were you attempting a print preview or printing?
And did you try a different report to see if you get the same message?

The developer asked me to ask you to see if there is an updated driver from the printer manufacturer. If so install it and see what you get.

My system has one computer & one printer (MFC 7440n).
We don't get a printer dialog window, instead a printer driver issue window.
It makes no difference if I click print preview or print tab.
No printer software has been installed. So I downloaded both the uninstall and driver from Brother.
After completing the uninstall and reinstalling of the driver, I get the same results.
I checked an additional program ATX and it prints as well as print preview from internet explorer and all is well there.
PayWindows still does not print. Thanks

This really has us scratching our heads since no one else is having the problem.
What version number of PayWindow are you using? Look at the top left corner of PayWindow.
What version of Windows are you using? Right click on the Computer Icon and select Properties.
And also try the following to see if you can do a print Preview:
Open the Device and Printers and besides that Brothers Printer, there should be at least one other printer choice such as the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" or "Fax" or whatever and set one to be the "Default Printer". Then open PayWindow and see if you can do a Print Preview of one of the reports and let me know the results.

I just thought, in case you do not have another printer driver like I described in my last email, here is a FREE PDF Print Driver that saves what you send to it as PDF files. It is called PrimoPDF and you can get it here:
http://www.primopdf.com/index.aspx
Install that and set it as your Default Printer and try what I asked you to do.

Tried to print using MS xps doc writer, didn't work on either print & print preview.
Just updated Adobe flash just in case that mattered.

Marge, we are at a total loss on what is going on there. Can you think of anything that changed on that computer since Friday the 18th when it was working to help us? Any updates, new software installs. etc?
Do you have another computer that you can move PayWindow to so you can keep working until we track this down?

I have PDF Complete installed-and I put a openoffice doc to it and printing is ok. Tried to install the PrimoPDF and the message from the (installer screen) said: "unable to install printer Primo PDF-PrimoPort-Primo PDF; (1797),"

Marge, I'm having the developers create a special version of PayWindow that will give us messages when you attempt to print to tell us what is going on. I will email you a link to the download as soon as I get the package ready for you.

We're still in trouble here. Now, I can't update (the program shuts down), I'm still at 9.0.32. Everything (PDF) on my computer prints except Pay Windows. This is totally scarey...... Besides current work, Quarterlys are coming up.
We tried to put the program on another computer, printer, and a bug report came up which we sent today. It wouldn't print on the second computer, printer either.
Is this corrupted and do I need to somehow send you something, if so, how do I do it?? Thanks again. Marge

Please uninstall PayWindow and then download that special test version that I gave you the link for in email. Then get us the return messages from the messages that should pop up when printing so we can tell what is going on.

Yeah!! Thanks for the special test version. We installed and things are working like normal. There are no messages so far or bug reports to send. The bug report that was sent, was from the older machine we were trying to get working. However, we were running into the same problems there. The special test version was installed on both machines and so far things seem to be working fine. All printers - Print!! We'll work it hard today to be absolutely sure. Thanks again! Marge

No messages? Even on my machine, it popped up a message box that no printer was selected, then a second message box that showed the printer which it selected and then the print Dialog. That is very strange that you did not get the status point messages.
