From the patch message email:

"We have received a number of emails from customers that have not completed their final payrolls for 2010. Well you cannot perform 2010 payroll with the 2011 program any longer now that the new tax tables for 2011 are part of the package. Best practice is to actually print your payroll reports on pay day. This prevents problems like this as well as makes it impossible to forget to print the reports later."

I believe I've seen you mention that you're working on a rebuild of PayWindow. I hope this is something that gets addressed. If the program has a short-coming, this is it. Your advice to run reports on payday is of course sound... assuming that's the only way you use the program. For example, my clients fall in 3 categories. For some, I process their pays each pay period. Others do their own pays and I prepare their quarterlies. And there are even some that I only prepare their W2's. Obviously, I have to update the program to the latest version to keep doing regular pays... but doing so makes after-the-fact payroll cumbersome at best, at least at the end of the year.

A couple of years ago, you added a field on the screen where you open the client file, to choose the year that you are dealing with. It seems logical the program should be able to use that year choice, and use the tax tables that apply to that year. Of course, one simple change breaks 10 other things... and a change that makes perfect sense to one person, will cause 10 others to wail & rend clothing. ;)

Actually After-The-Fact-Payroll entry remains the same. In the past you always changed the cutoff for the FICA wages, this year you just need to change the Employee FICA rate in the same Federal Tax edit as you used in the past.
