Paul,
I sent you an email about this, but if you want to respond here only, that's fine with me.
I have loaded 2011 software and tax tables. Now when I print Employers Total Report for any month in 2010 the Employee and Employer FICA number is incorrect.
Is this a bug or is this to be expected? Should I have completed all my 2010 activity before updating software?
Thanks much.
PS......I love your software, your prices, and your support!!! THANK YOU.

Yes you should have printed all end of year reports prior to installing the 2011 Tax Tables as it is now using the new Employee's FICA Rate of 4.2%. Actually getting in the habit of printing reports after each payroll makes what just happened impossible to happen.
You can temporarily set that back to the 2010 rate by clicking Tools, Federal Tax Table... and edit the Employee Rate to 6.2, print the reports and then change it back for 2011.

When I increase the Employee FICA to 6.2 % from 4.2 and then re-start the program, the calculated Employee and Employer FICA is a SMALLER number! The FICA and Medicare deductions stay the same.
Any idea of what I am doing wrong?
Thanks again.

Hold off on that as I have a feeling we crossed something up in this as I get normal figures when we were paying each pay date but to switch to go back it's giving those weird results.

Thanks for catching that Tom, it didn't appear when we were testing with last years data and the regular rates. We just posted a new fix:
PayWindow 2011 Build 9.0.5
New in PayWindow 2011 Build 9.0.5:
There was a bug in the code used for the Employer Totals report that did not show up in testing with last year's data but once the FICA split was used we found it was not picking up the employer's FICA share as it should. This affects PayWindow 2011 builds 9.0.2 through 9.0.4.
Also affected was the Tax Liability Report under Tax Reports.
You must download and install this build for the corrected reports.
Use your Update Checker to install this new update.

Do not know if this matters at all or if it is indicative of a bug.
With Build 9.0.5, the Payroll Total Report numbers for the last quarter in 2010 are the same no matter what the FICA Employee Share is set to (4.2 or 6.2).
I restored to build 9.0.3 and ran the report again. The numbers were the same as both of the 9.0.5 reports. So it looks like, intentionally or otherwise, 9.0.5 is reporting 2010 data correctly.
What do you think about this?
Thanks

In 2010 we used the employee FICA and doubled it. Starting today, that is different, we have to now calculate the Employer share on the fly for the reports.
