View Full Version : Can't Print Custom Report

Our great Commonwealth of Taxachusetts is now requiring employers to online report quarterly wages and state tax witholding for each employee. I didn't find a standard PayWindow report which gave me the quarterly state tax witholding per employee so I created a custom report showing our dozen or so employee's names, SSNs, Gross wages and SIT Witheld, so that I could print that and have it in front of me while I entered data into our Commonwealth's new online "QUEST" system.

I'm using PayWindow 8.0.11 and Win XP.

The report "print previewed" fine, but wouldn't "print." When I click "print" for a "standard" Paywindow report I get asked which printer to use in the usual fashion and go on from there. But with my custom report I get a glimpse of a "thermometer "bar" zipping by, but then....nothing else.

Fortunately I was able to print my report by saving it as a .pdf file, opening the file in Acrobat, and printing it.

Also, I suggest that the tab labeled "Save" on the custom reports page be changed to "Save/Load". It took me quite a bit of searching before I could figure out to load that custom report I'd created and saved a few months ago.

Not sure what the problem is there Jeff, but I just successfully printed the Custom Reports on four different computers to be sure nothing has changed in the Custom Report area. Specially since there have been no changes in there for what a few years now?

It worked like it always does, opens in Preview mode no matter which print button is used as it has to create a view you can see on the fly and then clicking the Print button at the top allowed me to select the printer to use on each computer and printed as always.

I wonder if the printer you selected was off-line or not plugged it perhaps?

I've added the suggestion for that tab label to make it Save/Load.

I think we're BOTH correct, Paul, as there seems to be a little inconsistancy in the steps needed to print a "standard report" and a "custom report."

When I need to print a "standard PayWindow report", such as a Wage Report, all I do is click on the "Print Now" button and i get whisked right to the printer selection window.

To print my custom report, I have to click the "Print Now" button and then have to follow that by clicking the "Print" button at the top of the screen to get to the printer selection window.

I sure hope I can remember that three months from now when I next need to print that custom report.< G>

Thanks Paul for the quick response, as usual.
