View Full Version : paying tax liability
How do you write a check to pay federal tax liabilites? I have been using quickpayroll for years and really don't want to use a quickbooks offering. I printed a monthly report. Do I have to manuallu add these things up then write a check or pay online. I have looked at the tutorial page but there is nothing there on paying taxes. I did see the seperate program to buy but that's more then I need or want.

No you write the Check in Quicken if that is what you use to pay your bills. Your Tax Liabilities are on one of the two reports you should be printing every pay day, the Employer Totals report. This is in the Report Center under Period reports and shows the liabilities for the Pay Period, MTD, QTD and YTD. The other report you should print is the 80 Column report which is the employee data similar to the other report and these two reports should be saved for seven years in case of any future audits.
What seperate program? If I write a check or pay online at EFTPS how does payWindow print the 941 - taxes deposited or still owed?

If you pay your taxes using the EFTPS or a check and use the information that we give you in the Employer Totals report, everything will be as expected.
We do not track payments in PayWindow, we give you your liabilities and expect you to pay them as PayWindow is a stand-alone payroll and not a checkbook program where your track payments.
You most likely do not need the "separate program" which I'm guessing that you saw is WageFiler. That is software to be able to edit W2 Forms or to submit W2 Forms electronically and have NELCO print them for you. With PayWindow you can print your own.
So I pay the taxes in quicken and paywindow assumes I have paid them and not sending a payment when I file the 941 or when I generate the 941 from paywindow I can fill this information on the form. Pay day is friday and I would like to decide on a software product soon. Another problem for me. I am using windows 7 on a 64bit computer and I am having trouble seeing the program in the middle of the screen any help there. Thank you mary

Yes, you are on your "honor" to pay the taxes we show in the Employer Totals report. If you do not you would have to edit the 941 Form when you open it before printing.
What sort of viewing problems? PayWindow was certified by Microsoft under Windows 7 and all seven of our computers here are Windows 7 64 bit machines and no visual problems.
