View Full Version : Voiding a Check

Hi,
It would be most helpful if the payroll system had the ability to void a check, not simply delete it, which does not leave a good audit trail. Is this a possibility?

Short version of reason for request: terminated employee received final paycheck; withholding taxes were paid on this pay. Pay amount was incorrect; individual returned paycheck. Deleting the check was as if it never happened. Voiding would "leave a trail" showing the reversal of the transaction. This would decrease the amount of payroll taxes owing - in this case indicating a negative amount. Future tax liability reports, including this ex-employee's replacement check information, would indicate the appropriate amount owing.

Thank you,

Actually most of our users prefer the ability to simply delete and then redo a check and write void in the checkbook for the old check number after creating the new one.

Also for such a request, it would require way too much code to change the way PayWindow works and cause usability problems for the thousands of users that bought our simple payroll to get away from a complex accounting package type system which sounds like you are accustomed to.

We use the KISS method to keep things as simple as possible.
