Hello: When trying to restore the last payroll from 2008 for one company, I get as far as finding the last date I want, clicking on restore and get the message
"File is in use. Make sure no other users are using time clock data base". The program does not close down prior to restore so I think thats why I'm getting the error message.

I've updated to .29

I don't use the time clock data base anywhere and there are no other users. Thank you for any help. Marge

Are you attempting to restore from a CD where the backup is set as read only? That cannot be done unless you are in Windows vista which allows zipping and unzipping operations on a CD.

Thanks for pointing out the error message though as we are sharing code between programs and need to set the application name to be specific to the program.

I back up to a external drive, this is so with all the companies that I do payroll for. Any other time I simply go through the restore procedure and I restore. However, the program will not allow me to restore with this one company. The backup is NOT read only. It seems that at first it said the program will close during the restore process and it did not do so.

I went to file, selected restore, found my external drive and the file contained therein, selected it, and said restore---then the message.

thanks, Marge

I'm using 7.0.29 and I cannot replicate the problem. See the four attached images and let me know if you see anything different when restoring.

I've named them in the order that I see them appear: Step1 through Step4.

Also you said "However, the program will not allow me to restore with this one company. The backup is NOT read only. It seems that at first it said the program will close during the restore process and it did not do so."

So that would mean other companies are restoring OK? If so check the existing company file on your hard drive to see if it is set to read only. Also if you look at the screenshots I gave in this message, nothing says the program will close so I'm confused on that message.

I must be doing something wrong!

1. ALL my companies have this same problem.
2. They are not read only
3. I open Pay Windows, go to file, click Restore Company select my company from my outside drive for the last payroll in 2008 as your attachment #1 shows. and say restore. I've tried it both with no data base open and with the company I want to use open. Your attachments 3 and 4 do not come up. Instead, "This will close all open windows. Do you want to continue. Click next to continue or exit program. The TWO CHOICES I have are "ok" or copy to clip board" and not " next or exit program." I click "ok" and then the message saying it's in use. Am I missing a window to say continue?

Marge again.

I uninstalled PayWindows and re-installed from the disk. I was able to restore and get the information I needed from 2008. BUT when I restored April 2009 and updated to .29 -- I checked if I could restore 2008 again--I couldn't for all of the above reasons.

Can you make a screenshot for us so we can see what you are getting?

Attach it like I did or email it to us at support@zpay.com.

Marge can you email me at support@zpay.com so I can give you a special build to test. We cannot replicate the problem here on five different computers and will have a special test version for you to try.

Also in the email, give me some information on your configuration, version of Windows, are the data files on a network, anything you can think of that may help us.

It worked! Thank you so much for the support. That's one thing about PayWindows, you keep working with us to help. We appreciate you. Marge
