View Full Version : Network printer

A week or so ago, PayWindow stopped being able to print from my wife's machine to the network printer from time to time. The printer is installed properly, and all other apps can print just fine. Paywindow says something about needing to log into the network printer, but like I said, no other app complains. A system reboot sometimes makes it work. Seems unlikely it's directly a PayWindow problem, but I was hoping you might have a suggestion since it's the only app affected. Used to print just fine all the time, no changes to printer or drivers have been made in quite a while.

Also noticing that the window to set up tax tables seems to come up the first time I run PayWindow on a networked machine after a reboot. Not supposed to do that anymore right? It's probably happening when PW is the first app run that goes to the networked drive where the data is since the last reboot... like the system doesn't "see" the drive yet so it thinks it needs to reset it?? Any way to prevent that from happening?

Lastly, if I begged you, or offered you a percentage of the stimulus budget... would it be possible to save the background picture settings permanently so they don't hafta be reset every time the program updates?? ;)

Email me at support@zpay.com and reference this message thread and I'll get one of the developers to setup a web meeting with you to see if they can resolve the printer dropping problem.

Yes you are correct, you must log onto the network first in order for PayWindow to locate the tax tables. I think you can do that by assigning a network drive that is loaded on startup. At least that's what I have here on my system.

The developer is changing the setup so it does not overwrite the location of the background image.

Gonna be tough during tax season. I'm about 200 returns behind as I type this. I'll do what I can. I'll try jot down some notes about it when it happens to see if I can develop a pattern & can make it happen on demand.

Yeah, I'm set up that way too. Still seems like it ~sometimes~ doesn't "see" the mapped drive until you browse to it. It's a Vista64 box, so might have something to do with that. Was just odd that this printing thing just started a couple weeks ago out of the blue. Nothing like this ever happens in July when I'm twiddling my thumbs.

Call Congress & tell 'em I said you get a check!! ;) Admittedly minor, but it was oh so annoying.
