The IRS Version of Form 941 at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f941.pdf is Rev. October 2008.

In contrast, Z-Pay is using Rev. January 2008.

Should we be concerned about having used the wrong version in filing?

Will Z-Pay be updated to use the current version?

Note: I have updated the program and tax tables. The program says that neither needs to be updated.

Tis information was sent out in the newsletters several times since December 1st as well as is on the letter that comes with the CD we ship and is answered in the support forum as well as in a Frequently Asked Question:

It is your responsibility to use your update checker frequently during the year to be sure you always have the most current forms and features in PayWindow.

I do keep the program and tax tables updated. It is updated. I did check before I posted. I even assured that it is updated before I used it to do any tax work. I just happened to notice that after all those updates, Z-Pay is behind the IRS.

I understand that many users may not keep the program and/or tax tables updated. However, that is not the case here.

My question is motiviated by the fact that the IRS is on a Rev. dated October 2008 and Z-Pay is using a Rev dated January 2008. Consequently, Z-Pay seems to be behind relative to the IRS. Asking whether or not we should be concerned was simply giving you the opportunity to assure us that Z-Pay's use of the outdated version was of little consequence.

The questions remain: 1) Will Z-Pay update to reflect the January 2008 version that is being used by the IRS? 2) If not, does the IRS care if we use the outdated version.

Since the changes did not affect anything we print or do in the October release and the existing January 2008 form is still acceptable, we did not bother going through the change. The change that will be necessary will be the one in March of this year when they release the "January 2009" form.

Great. That clears it up. I really appreciate the quick response.

Sorry to have been so obsessive, but it is the government . . . .
