I have printed my 941 for 4th quarter 2008. Line 5a it matches the quarterly Employee Wage Statement.

It DOES NOT match line 2 (941): wages, tips and other compensation.

I have no idea where it may picking up this higher amount. The number of employees is correct. (line 1)

On the Quarterly Totals for Tax Reporting, 4th quarter it has ANOTHER total gross wages figure. Even higher than the 941, line 2. On this print out the line "Subject to FICA is the same as line 5a on the 941, but the TOTAL GROSS WAGES is HIGHER.

I have had this problem with previous quarters and now the IRS is wanting toknow about the discrepency in wages. HELP PLEASE!

My first guess is that you have a deduction or more setup improperly. See this FAQ and send me a backup of your database referring to this message thread.

I'll check it out and see what you did and tell you what you need to do.

I received the database and took a look at what you have. You changed employee 008 from a Non employee payee to a Salaried employee during the year.

You will need to delete that Salaried transaction for her and set her back to be a type N employee and then create a new record for her as a Salaried employee and pay that employee record's Salaried transaction over again to get the reports to work as expected.
