View Full Version : Form 941 'Depositor' setting

Is there a way to have PayWindow remember and use a default 'Depositor' setting for Form 941? We are a monthly depositor, but each time we generate a new Form 941, PayWindow defaults to 'Less than $2500'. I thought there was a Company setting to indicate this, but I can't find it anywhere.

We filed an erroneous Form 941 in 2008 because we failed to reset this to Monthly when we generated that form. IRS later sent us a Notice because the monthly deposit amounts were missing, which meant a phone call and letter and a corrected Form 941.

If there is no way to set this, I would like to submit a feature request that either:

1. allow setting a default 'Depositor' type in Company setup
2. let PayWindow default to/remember the last setting used to print a 941
3. default this to BLANK, forcing the user to make an explicit choice each time

The last option may be the easiest and best, since it guarantees the user can never 'forget' to reset the Depositor frequency, it would have to be set every time. If you set it wrong, that's your fault, whereas as it is now, if you fail to notice the default is incorrect, it is still your fault but in the midst of a busy day it is one more detail to overlook. Making the user set it explicitly means it can never be overlooked.

This will be added in the next release where it will remember what was selected last.
