Dear Paul,
Thank you.
My SUTA/SUI is showing $6514.42 thru PayWindow and $6357.59that we have actually paid, per our payroll program for the year, a dfiierence of $156.83.
My SDI in PayWindow is $3367.39 what we have paid is $4881.18, a difference of $1513.79. No one has exceeded the SDI wage base. Do you have any idea why the difference.
I do not want to say anything to my boss yet, until I have all the facts or can get it fixed. He doesn't need to be bothered with fixable problems.
I thank you so very much for your help.

My guess is one of two things. Since you just started out this Fall with PayWindow, you started paying employees in PayWindow before entering the year to date information. In other words, the program had no way to know that a number of your employees had already exceeded the threshold where those taxes stop.
The other guess is there is an error in between what you actually had and what you entered.
In both cases since you started at the last of the year, you will need to manually calculate your SUTA and SDI rates to make sue what is owed has been paid.

Paul,
Will I need to continue this until thru the 4th QTR?
Should rekey the YTDs?
Actually, what I did was key in YTD through Sept.11. on my employees in 943and then the two paydays. In our other company 941, I keyed in YTD totals by quarter thru Sept.11. and then keyed in paydays on the 18th and the 25th.
I will do whatever it takes to have it correct.

I sort of recall you saying that the payroll was done by hand in the past?
My guess is that there were errors in the calculations during the manual processing days. It's very difficult for keeping on top of the salary limits and such like a computer can do when manually calculating the figures. At the end of the year, PayWindow's Employer's Totals report will have the final totals for you.
You will really need to use the end of year figures to settle up with the SUTA and SDI payments. If you had entered each payroll into PayWindow starting with the first through the last, you'd be OK. But it's virtually impossible to find errors from your manual entries.

Hello Paul,
SDI is off. Based on wages 610,107.04 x .8% = 4880.86
My YTD is showing $4581.93 a difference of 298.93. Steer me in the correct direction. I think I will check employee totals????? I could custom report my employee # and SDI withheld????? right?????

Paul,
Actually, SDI is correct. The programmer on our very old "DOS" payroll program entered .008 instead of the .8%. The first three payrolls for 2008 had incorrect SDI deducted, $298.93. I had forgotten all about this until I started digging in the tax records.
I am very happy with the PayWindow so far. I just have to finish convincing my boss.
Thank you for all your help.
Regards,
Linda
