Hello,

I need more information on the CA-DE4. When entering employees into the program, Fed emempt., State exempt., and CA-DE4. I don't understand what this is for. All employees fill in a W4, so am I supposed to check the CA-DE4?

I looked on the EDD website, but did not get a lot of information. In our old computer program, (DOS) we would enter the Fed and State exemptions and also a dollar amount for each exemption claimed @ $62.00 per exemption. Is CA-DE4 the same thing? Am I supposed to check this?

Again, thank you,
Linda

Yes if you pause your Mouse pointer over the CA-DE4 data entry item in the employee setup, a help window pops up with instructions as follows:

Ender Exemptions from California DE4

Actually all controls in PayWindow have instant help like that.

I don't know what this is used for. What is it's purpose? When I run my mouse over it (in PayWindow) all it say is enter the total from CA-DE4. What is the CA-DE4 for? Ihave contacted EDD, but haven't heard from them yet.

Thank you again,
Linda

The number of exemptions (dependents) the employee has claimed on their California DE-4 Form. California is different from all of the rest of the states and requires different entries.
