Child Support Calculation:

I need to withhold 50% of an employee’s DISPOSABLE income for child support. PayWindow allows deducting 50% of Gross income only. Is there a way for PayWindow to calculate 50% of disposable income or do I have to do it manually? Manually, I set up the deduction in the Company profile but do not check the % of Gross box. Then I edit the employee profile under Deductions / Taxes and leave blank. Then I pay the employee to determine Net pay. After I get net pay, I calculate 50% then go to Details 4 tab to enter this amount for garnished wages. I press the pay button to get the new net pay. Are these the right manual steps to process 50% of disposable income? Please tell me there is a way PayWindow will do this automatically. Thanks.

Only if it was salaried employee that earns the same amount each pay period. If not you will need to do it after calculating their gross during the pay entry.

I also have a garnishment, however the garnishment is a flat amount every week. I would not have to go through all of the above steps. Correct? Since the garnishment is a set amount, it is like having a salaried employee??

Thank you,
Linda

You just need to setup a deduction in the company under the deductions tab by entering the name of the deduction, nothing else. Then enter that flat amount in the employee settings for that deduction.
