View Full Version : Custom Report Margin Settings?

I backup our PayWindow data locally and remotely after every payroll, but thought it would be a good idea to also start running a paper report of all employees' YTD pay and tax deductions, "just in case" everything else crashed and burned.

I had no problem designing the report but I can't seem to get the "Adjust left and top margin" report settings to make any changes in the previewed or printed report. (Neither in portrait or landscape mode.)

How come?

I thought you were already printing the two reports that the IRS and State Auditors will want to see Jeff? See this White Paper on the reports available:

http://zpay.com/report-descriptions.htm

Pay attention to the bold text for the 80 column and the employer's totals report. Having those two reports in a file folder, a three ring notebook or someplace will make the difference between a half day audit and a handshake vs a 6 week audit and possible expenses on your part.

The custom reports are only useful for quick and dirty lists and are not to be used for anything "official". We were going to pull that feature from the program but decided to just leave it as a "don't use for important things" feature.

Thanks Paul. I feel just like Neuman, the previous poster, narrowly missing a bitten nose.

I've run the "Employer's Totals" for every payroll for years, since they're needed to get the amounts for filing and paying taxes, but I never really looked hard at the "80 Column Report" and decided to "reinvent it" as a custom report.

As penance, I'll print all the 80 column reports for the 18 payrolls we've had since the start of this year and continue printing them after each new payroll.

Yes Jeff, I used to work with a young man that bought my old photography business back in 1989 who had a saying every time one of us couldn't find the obvious.

He'd always say... "The object in looking, is seeing."
