View Full Version : Minium Wage Rate Change
Our state (GA) minium wage rate increase becomes effective on July 24, 2008
our next bi-weekly payroll is on July 28, 2008
employees will be paid min. hr. wage of $5.85 (old rate) from July 14 to 23 2008
they will be paid an hourly rate of $6.55 (new rate) from July 24 -27, 2008
if they work overtime during this week, they will be paid $9.83 per hr.
any suggestion for input in Zpay
thanks

Just as any pay raise or pay cut even. You need to set up the rate that you are paying your employees in the Employee setup.
Using the Employee List:
Double click an employee's name, select the Payrate Tab and edit the hourly rate to reflect the new rate you will pay them with. Then save and close the record and it will be ready to go.

Paul are you saying we need to pay our employees up to the 23rd of July at the old pay rate then input the new pay rate and pay them again? We need to pay them at 2 different rates during the current payroll period.

Yes, that's the only way you could do it with the software.
As we are only paying one paycheck to each employee on Monday
This is what I am going to do
I set up an Excell spreadsheet and input all info (old and new rate) hours worked and set up a formula to calculate the totals
go to Zpay and change the employees with min. wage change to S (i.e. Salary)
change the hourly rate to $0 (both regular and overtime)
when I pay these employees on Monday, I will just input the total gross amount from my spreadsheet, hit F6 (which automatically calcuate taxes and show net pay),then hit save & close
run the column report to cross check as it will show both Gross and Net pay

we input info into ZPay using this method
for employee with a min wage of $5.85, the info is already under Pay Rate 1.
we just keep the same info there
under 2. we input the same Department No., the new hourly rate of $6.55
and overtime of $9.83
pay employees for those 2 weeks worked and save the records
then go back and and change the pay rate and overtime under 1 to the new min. rate.
take out the info in 2. and save the records
this way, the next pay period will reflects only the new min. wage of $6.55 and $9.83
hope this is useful for those who have to pay employees this way
