Hi Paul,
Running Win 2000. Recently upgraded to PW Version .12. Having problems with restoring backup. Daughter does payroll at her home, (also using version .12) then e-mails backup to me. I restore and print checks. Worked fine in all versions until .12 Since upgrading to Ver. 12 the restore has not worked right. It is apparently restoring to default c:/doc & settings/....../Paywindow data files, but when checking employees, shows earlier paydate, not current one, and does not show employee added since previous paydate.
Two weeks ago I was able to get it to restore and print, but did not make notes how I did it. I cannot get today's payroll to come up after being restored.
Any ideas?
Thanks

My guess is that you are restoring to a different folder than you should be.

See this FAQ as you can use the Company Organizer to locate all data files on your computer and then select and open them using the Organizer as well.

http://zpay.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1564

You can also use it to move files to the folder that you've elected to be your standard database storage folder.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I ran the company organizer, it said I had the 5/14 payroll data in the default folder, c:\documents ............\paywindow data files. but it still will not bring up the current (5/14) payroll data. The initial welcome screen shows the default directory/folder where the restore was placed. I did the restore through the built-in restore function, as well as tried it through a separate unzipping program. Is there a way to look at the interior of the zipped file to see if the original backup has the correct information???? (without using Paywindow?)
Thanks
Allen

Hi Paul,
Follow-up. Went again through the "company organizer", it again located the 5/14 payroll in the default directory. I clicked on it, then clicked on "open" and Thar she be. Paywindow opened the current 5/14 payroll. Now to figure out why I had to go that route.
Thanks
Allen

Most likely you didn't select the same folder to restore to in the Restore Dialog when you were restoring your backup that you actually wanted to use. This is a very common error made by users and the reason that we created the Company Organizer to quickly find all occurrences of the users databases.
