How do I give an advance payment for an employee in between pay periods?

You could run a special payroll just for him or do like most people do and give him a cash advance and collect it with a deduction the next normal payroll.

I did produce a new payroll check but there is no place to post it as an advance. I did pay her in the "bonus" portion of the program but had to figure the gross amount so she could recieve the net amount she needed. Now where and how do I adjust her regular pay check so she can see the adjustment to her regular check. Do I post it as a negative number in the same "bonus" section? She is an hourly employee and I hesitate to simply reduce her regular hours/gross amount.

See the Tutorial on how to setup Deductions.

However it sounds like you took out tax in this advanced payment (This is why a check out of your regular check book is better for an advance) and now she will be taxed twice. :(

Actually I tried this as a negative amount in the bonus section and your program (seems) to make the adjustment. - am i missing something?

If I were you, I'd delete that transaction as I'm sure it will screw up the reports, taxes and W2 Forms. You just cannot enter negative numbers in the pay fields without breaking the calculation logic.

You're better off to give her a regular check for the advance and then deduct it from her regular pay the next pay date.
