I haven't patched the program since 6.05, as I have some concerns about the changes to where data is stored. Are these changes mandatory, or will I be able to continue to use my current locations?

I store all my data... accounting clients, tax clients, payroll clients, etc etc... on a raided drive on a computer that is isolated from the internet. I've gone to some expense to set my network up the way I want it, and I'd rather not have someone else dictate changes. I really couldn't care less where MS wants me to store data... if MS wants to pay me to use their software, I'll think about it.

So if I patch up PW, will I be forced to move data?

You can continue to use the drive for your company databases. You can even use a network drive.

What is mandatory is the new tax table database locations. You just cannot have them in the Program Files folder any longer.
