Paywindow Update 6.0.10 Problem

I performed the update this morning and it appeared to be a clean update with no problems. Then when I opened Paywindow and clicked the "Help/About" the version still indicates 6.0.9.

Also when I perform "Check for Updates" it indicates this:

No need to update tax tables.
Main Program Needs Updating.

Build 6.0.10 is the current 2008 PayWindow release and INCLUDES the 01/30/2008 tax tables. Use the View Updates button below to view the changes made.

REQUIRES PayWindow 6.0.10 or newer installed (HUH??). This tax table download requires the password on your 2008 receipt. If the button is grayed out, you have the most current release already installed by the program download.

Ray, you did one of several things.

1. You downloaded and did not actually install the program. You must run the installer.

2. You did download and run the setup, but selected a different location to install it to and not over the existing installation to replace the old program. Use the Find tool in Windows and search for "paywin.exe" and see where you have them installed. More than one confirms this problem.

3. You installed the new program in a different location but did not create a new desktop Icon and that's how you are entering PayWindow and the old desktop Icon is pointing to the old program. Click Start, All Programs, PayWindow Payroll and then PayWindow Payroll again to open the current installation.

To insure that you installed the newest, the program would have been launched and actually installed the new tax tables and you would have been through these steps as it happened:

I checked my computer and my settings apear to be correct, there is only one paywin.exe file and it is in C:\Programs\PayWindow Payroll and the desktop icon points to it.

When your Download Assistant opens, it is going to save the update download in C:\Documents\Downloads. There was already a paywinsetup.exe dated 05/17/07 in that directory and it does not seem that it was being overwritten. I deleted that file and then let your Download Assistant save the new paywinsetup.exe file there.

When that file opens, the "Setup PayWindow Payroll" window says:
"This will install PayWindow 2008 Payroll 6.0 Build 6.0.9 on your computer"

Is that label in error, or is the incorrect update file being downloaded?

Wow! I just checked the download site and the file was dated 2/14/2008 and it was yesterday we uploaded the new setup file. Apparently the upload was not completed.

Further... I just uploaded the files and see the dates are now correct.

Oh boy, further inspection did show the files were uploaded, but to the root folder which I just deleted them from.

Biggest mistake I made this year. :?
