I was wondering when I run the 940 report it puts a figure in the Box 4 which is payments exempt from Futa I can not figure out where this number is coming from when I run the Totals for tax reporting it shows a different number for total wages to pay to Futa I am confused plus it does not check any box under the line 4 number What total payments is exempt? I pay wages in OH, WI, NV, TN, NE, FL and what report can I run to show where the program is picking up the number on Line 4. Thank you in advance for your help

You must have some deduction setup as non-taxable maybe? Or an employee flagged as non-taxable?

If that was true when I ran the Quarterly totals for Tax reporting wouldn't the wrong number show up on those reports. The correct number for the 940 is showing on the reports correctly but on the actually tax report it is not coming out correctly and I just went through and check my handful of employees and the setup looks correct

The 941 and 940 forms handle items marked as non-taxable diferently than other reports.

If it's a deduction that is non-taxable, you must have the 941 box checked in the company settings under deductions.

I am having the same problems in 3 of my 5 companies. I have checked what I think are all the places, could you specify where to check for the set up?

See this page in the help file as this is the settings we were discussing back in 2008:

Compare the settings of the three companies against the other two that do not have a problem which may be the fastest way to sort it out.
