    Default Correcting Local Taxes

Apparently when I did an update my local taxes disappeared and it deducted using NY or some other states table. To correct I have 5 paychecks for 8 employees that need to be corrected. My thought is to go through each employee's check and determine the difference between what was deducted and what should have been deducted and hand enter the total in local tax on the next paycheck. I have gone through the process (which I have done many times since the program seems to do loose the local taxes whenever it updates) and have watched the video again, to set up my local taxes, but when I try to edit a previous pay check so I can determine what the difference is, it is putting the Local tax in the State tax now and not taking out a Local tax? Please tell me what I am doing incorrectly and/or if there is a better solution.

    thanks

PayWindow's setup does not replace an existing local tax record. It appears that you may have selected a different location for the tax tables as we added a choice this year for a single user or all users on the computer.

Old single user location is "My Documents\PayWindow Tax Files\" and the new All Users option is "Public Documents\PayWindow Tax Files\".

And if it used the sample New York, you did not follow the instructions in creating a local tax as the help file tells you to create a new tax record and not use the example as it has a lot of additional deductions reducing the taxable wages in it. And then attach that new local tax record to the employees. See this page in the help file:

I would delete the five payroll transactions after you create and attach the tax record to your employees and set the pay date and repay them to get it correct.
