Attention AOL Users

When using AOL as an ISP the AOL client monitors itself to detect when the user is idle and after the client has been idle for some time it will disconnect the network connection. That is normally a good thing since it will save the person money by disconnecting when they forget to. But it can cause problems large downloads.

There is a way to prevent the network from disconnecting. When you know you will not be using the AOL browser for a while you should enter the keyword smile4u which will display a smiley face on the screen and the AOL client will not disconnect the network even if you do not use the AOL browser for a long time.

Dial-Up Connection Problems?

Dial-up connections may also cause problems with large downloads such as PayWindow by disconnecting you part way through.

We had a tool created for us that will keep trying until the entire download is completed. The PayWindow Download Assistant is a small 336Kb file that when run will download and launch the PayWindow setup file for you. If you are disconnected, simply reconnect and the tool will resume where it left off at. It will also accelerate the download for even fast connections. That will run the program and when you see this screen:



Simply click the next button. It will launch the PayWindow installer when the download is completed.

PayWindow to QuickBooks Posting!

Special Note: We had this tool created for us but have found it to be slow and cumbersome to work with. Of course, Intuit wants to keep you captive to get that from $200 to over $2,000 plus each year (depending on how many employees you have) from you so they don't make it easy to get data from an outside payroll program. We here at ZPAY use QuickBooks ourselves but have never used the tool other than to test it. Since PayWindow has such thorough reporting, there is no need to post those individual transactions like the tool does. We simply post two general journal entries each month. One for total payroll and one for total payroll taxes and use PayWindow's reporting for tracking the payroll information. You can use the tool below or do what we do to do it faster and save on those high Intuit annual updates and use our affordable PayWindow payroll system. We intend to hold our $35 a year upgrades with no limit on number of employees nor number of company files that you support for as long as we can. But if you want, feel free to download this tool which is free and see if you may or may not want to use it.

NOTE: This Requires that you have PayWindow 2004 Version 2.1, Build 175 or newer installed. Also you must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer installed with all updates from Microsoft in order to recognize the PayQuick application certificate.

Users of QuickBooks from Intuit, formerly Quicken, have an alternative payroll to use. PayQuick allows you to assign whether an item is a credit or a debit making it useable for those items like auto expense reimbursement and such. The program also has it's own security certificate making it interface to QuickBooks with less effort when setting up.

There are no special requirements for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista users.

Windows 95 Users:

- Pentium II 500Mhz or better
- 16 MB RAM or better
- 5 MB of hard disks space.
- Windows 95 with the latest service patches.
- Microsoft Direct Access Connectivity (MDAC) 2.6.
- Internet Explorer 5 or better installed.

Microsoft does not support Windows 95 any longer and the updates are no longer available on their website.

Windows 98 Users:
